To the Editor:

The Kirkland Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank Mr. Books, the staff, and all of the students of Hiawatha Elementary School for participation in our 2010 Chamber of Commerce Art/Essay Contest.

The projects were very well done by the students. The art/essay contest winners are as follows, with the students receiving $25 awards: Will Hentschel (kindergarten), Molly Hansen (first grade), Chandler Fruit (second grade), and Gianna Bottom (third grade). Essay contest winners: Tori Pasko (fourth grade) and Garrett Braden (fifth grade).

Kirkland chamber members also judged the homes that were registered for the contest. Five homes were recognized for the lighting contest: Greg Jindrich, 1418 Kennedy Drive (first place); David Tamraz, 1510 Elizabeth Court (second place); Michael Percudani, 1504 Elizabeth Court (third place); James Marshall, 5349 Lawrence Drive (fourth place); David McMurray, 110 S. 5th St. (fifth place).

Many area families enjoyed the live nativity scene, music and the puppet shows at the bank.  More than 75 children visited with Santa at the Alpine Bank. Thanks for coming to our annual Christmas in Kirkland.
