Prairie Flower: Love INC parade float

Published: Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 5:30 a.m. CDT

In October, Love INC of DeKalb/Sycamore enjoyed its first Sycamore Pumpkin Festival parade with its entry, "Pumpkin Love," celebrating its second year and sharing how Love INC is helping churches help others in our communities.

The crowd at the 2010 parade got a closer look at what Love In the Name of Christ is doing in DeKalb County. Seven church-affiliated ministries were showcased: kitchen, food, diaper, clothing, linen, moving and paper, along with Love INC's own furniture and appliance ministries.

The float committee would like to thank all those volunteers who participated to make our effort a great success.

Thank you to those who helped in the float preparation: Kelly Pederson, Emily Lampkins, Wayne Joslin, John and Phyllis Horst, Helen Maurer, Lanny Sanner, Bill Scholl, Jerry and Shirley Thaden, Nathan Scott and Tarryn Thaden.

Additional thanks to our walkers on parade day: Nathan and Erica Scott, Alex Scott, Mark Cordes, Lucille Reynen, Bill Scholl, Tarryn Thaden, Abeo Walter, Devynn Gordon and Amiya Gordon.

Our efforts would have been impossible without the help and contributions from local businesses, as well. Those who contributed were Mike Mooney Chevrolet, Almburg Auctioneering, Wessels Farm, Horst Builders and Hearing Help Express.

We at Love INC are grateful for all the support we are receiving from the community and are extremely thankful for our 31 partner churches and the volunteers who provide assistance to those in need.
