DeKalb senior Pat Rourke made an event out of Tuesday's commitment to play basketball at North Central College. He brought some family members, drove to the Naperville campus and told coach Todd Raridon that he had good news and then committed to the school – where he was recruited to play point guard – on the spot.
He'll join Batavia's Matt LeTourneau and Joy of the Game teammate Matt Dickinson as the Cardinals begin conditioning workouts next week.
"I really like soccer, but basketball has just been my passion," Rourke said of his decision to play college hoops.
He also considered Kishwaukee College and Lake Forest.
