To the Editor:

Our Kiwanis Club’s first effort at providing a basic rummage sale for our community May 1-2 was an outstanding success. It enabled our members to donate an array of basic household items and clothing, marked at very reasonable prices.

We know the sale proved to be a big help for many of our community neighbors who took merchandise away by the sack full.

The resulting revenue, albeit modest, will give our club additional monies as we help our community through service to others.

We want to give special thanks to Mike Mooney, one of our members, who provided his body shop space. Shop manager Tim McGowan was gracious with his time and space. Abby Chemers and Jim Mitchell worked hard to price our items. Shadow Gentry was everywhere as he labored for our club, and one of our own kids, Sasha Henrikson, put in countless hours before and during the sale.

As we thank our many members who participated, we join them in thanking the community for another show of support for what we are trying to do to make our hometowns better places to live, work and raise our families.
