Former NIU coach honored by Naperville North High School

The Naperville North High School Hall of Fame Board recently inducted six honorees into the school’s Hall of Fame, including Coach Dave Bucher, of Polo, who was head men’s soccer coach at Northern Illinois University from 1969-1980. Bucher amassed a career mark of 366-112-67 in 23 years at North, which places him fourth in all-time victories in Illinois. A member of the Illinois Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame, he earned numerous DVC, IHSA Regional and Sectional championships for North, as well as several State appearances and one IHSA State Championship.

Other honorees were Jim Konrad, current head soccer coach at Naperville North; Chad Ganden, IHSA State Champion in 1996 in the 100-yard freestyle; Mike Kuefler, considered by many as one of North’s best all-around male athletes; Scott Kavanagh, All-State quarterback for the Naperville North Huskies in 1995; and Jackie Diekamper, considered Naperville North’s best-ever softball pitcher.
