To the Editor:

Kishwaukee Kiwanis of DeKalb (the Noon Club) just celebrated its 40th anniversary as a chartered club of Kiwanis International.

Kiwanis is a service club of volunteers with a focus on helping children in our communities. We want to take this opportunity to thank our community in DeKalb County for your support of our many projects and fundraising efforts over the past four decades. Without the great support of the community, our fundraising projects such as Biking with Beanzie, Peanut Day and a food booth at Corn Fest would not be the successes they have become.

The funds raised by these projects have supported such worthy causes as our community bike paths throughout the county, 4Cs, the Children’s Learning Center, Kiwanis Park, 4H, Hope Haven, Safe Passage and many others.

Our specific appreciation also goes to the DeKalb Park District for hosting our weekly gatherings and to the Lincoln Inn for catering our weekly lunches for our meetings. We would like to thank the Kiwanis Clubs of DeKalb (the Evening Club), Sycamore, and Belvidere for attending our 40th anniversary celebration Oct. 21. We were pleased that the NIU Circle K and the Aktion Club of Opportunity House were represented, too.

We meet weekly at Hopkins Park at noon on Wednesdays and visitors are welcome. We are engaged by pertinent, timely, and informative speakers.

Please visit our Web site – www.KishKiwanis.org – for more information.
