DeKalb resident to compete in 2009 National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest in Wisconsin
The 2009 Illinois 4-H Invitational Dairy Cattle Judging Contest was held Aug. 22 at the Illinois State Fair. The senior division consisted of 4-H members 14 years and older who received an “A” rating at the state 4-H Dairy Judging Contest in June and/or were involved in past contests and eligible to be invited back to participate in the Illinois 4-H Invitational Dairy Judging Contest.
Results from this contest, ability to present oral reasons and judging results from the June contest were used to determine the four individuals that will represent Illinois 4-H in the 2009 National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., on Sept. 29.
Team members selected to represent Illinois at the 2009 National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest include Angie Boesche of DeKalb, Mitchell Eickmeyer of Hoyleton, Michelle Fluty of Bloomington and Aaron Mitchell of Winnebago. First alternate is Colleen Ziller of Huntley and second alternate is Samantha Ropp of Strawn.
VAC to host eighth annual golf outing
Voluntary Action Center’s board of directors will host its eighth annual golf outing to benefit VAC programs. The outing will be on Sept. 18 at the Sycamore Park District golf course. The event will begin with a box lunch served at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 12:30 p.m. shotgun tournament start.
In addition to individual and foursome prizes, the event will include a “Beat the Pro Hole,” a hole-in-one contest, 50/50 raffle and silent auction.
