Wednesday practice report/video interview
Video interview with Chandler Harnish
Sorry for the delay today on the practice report, we'll have a post on the basketball schedule shortly.
The Huskies worked on a bunch of little things for the majority of Wednesday's morning practice. Blocking angles and leverage were the two things most talked about during the two hour practice.
Camp is really starting to grind on some players, especially those who haven't been through the grind of almost three weeks straight of tough practices.
But some of the young players are handling just fine, as well. This morning, sophomore linebacker Jordan Delegal and freshman linebacker Tyrone Clark stood out. Delegal consistently put pressure on the quarterbacks, including a sack of DeMarcus Grady, and Clark made an impressive interception in rookie ball.
Freshman quarterback Jordan Lynch, who turned in a nice performance himself in the two-minute drill, fired a pass over the middle that Clark tipped straight up about five feet in the air before the ball fluttered down into his arms for the pick.
Cornerback Patrick George made a couple of nice plays and seems locked in lately. In a day that belonged to the defense, linebacker John Tranchitella made a nice interception to clinch a win in the two-minute drill for the defense.
Tight ends Jack Marks and Bryan Beckner are pushing each other on the tight end depth chart. Nick Groeniger is receiving a lot of reps while the coaches try and figure out exactly what they have at tight end after Reed Cunningham and Jason Schepler.
Also, I caught up with quarterback Chandler Harnish after this morning's practice. You can check out the video interview here.
Finally, there is a report out of the Grand Forks Herald that North Dakota will travel to DeKalb to play the Huskies in 2010. Updated 5:10 p.m: NIU has confirmed the report. The 2010 non-conference schedule could be set as early as next week.
