Kiwanis thankful for community support

To the editor:

The Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club of DeKalb wants to thank our community for a very successful 11th annual Biking with Beanzie event, held last Sunday. Riders chose from 23, 43, 62 and 101 miles. This year, nearly 500 riders from throughout the Midwest participated in the ride. Numerous rest/water stops and SAG support drivers are provided throughout the event.

Kiwanis is a global organization of member-volunteers working to change the world, one child and one community at a time. Profits from the Beanzie ride go to support the DeKalb County/Kishwaukee Bike Pathway projects and other worthy projects within DeKalb County helping to make our community a better place to live.

Our special thanks to the supporters of this year’s ride: Mike Mooney Chevrolet/Cadillac/Pontiac, DeKalb School District 428, Kishwaukee Community Hospital, Northern Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, DeKalb North Central Cyclery, 4-H Clubs of DeKalb County, Sycamore Key Club, AKtion Club of Opportunity House, Water Works, Manning Ford, Competitive Edge and Fiber Optics.

Kishwaukee Kiwanis club meets weekly from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesdays at Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore Road, in DeKalb. Visitors and prospective members are always welcome. For more details, visit www.kish-kiwanis.com/beanzie.htm, See Beanzie again next year on July 18, 2010.
