Tuesday countdown

Welcome to the third edition of the Tuesday countdown. Every Tuesday, all the way up until the start of the season when Northern Illinois travels to Wisconsin for a 6 p.m. game on Sept. 5, we'll be counting down some aspect of college football.

Today, we’ll take a look at the top 10 offensive players in the Mid-American Conference.

Just missed the cut: Eddie Adamski, C, Northern Illinois; Jacory Stone, WR, Eastern Michigan; Freddie Barnes, WR, Bowling Green; Tyler Sheehan, QB, Bowling Green; Stephen Williams, WR; Toledo Colin Miller, C, Central Michigan;

10. Bryan Anderson, WR, Central Michigan

Last season: 63 receptions, 865 yards, 6 touchdowns

Anderson is the under-the-radar playmaker of Central Michigan’s explosive offense. But he was a first team all-MAC player last season and his production is a reason for that.

9. Jason Onyebuagu, LG, Northern Illinois

Onyebuagu was named third team all-MAC and wasn’t even healthy for all of last season. His return helped propel the NIU offensive line to play its best stretch of football in October.

8. Eugene Jarvis, RB, Kent State

Last season: 801 rushing yards, 9 touchdowns; 273 receiving yards

Jarvis wasn’t healthy last season, missing 3.5 games to injury. Don’t forget that Jarvis ran for 1,669 yards as a sophomore. He’s explosive and elusive when healthy.

7. Phillip Swanson, LG, Western Michigan

Swanson is considered as one of the best run blockers in the conference and was named third team all-MAC as a sophomore. At 6-foot-4, 307 pounds, and mobility to match his size, it's hard to argue with that.

6. James Starks, RB, Buffalo

Last season: 1,333 rushing yards, 16 touchdowns

Starks plays big at 6-foot-2, but don’t underestimate his speed. He is one of two returning running backs in the conference that averaged over 100 rushing yards a game this past season.

5. Antonio Brown, WR, Central Michigan

Last season: 93 receptions, 998 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns; 116 rushing yards, 1 punt return for touchdown, averaged 20.5 yards per punt return

Brown is a threat to catch and run for the Chippewas. He has elite speed and is a major weapon in the return game. It’s not a stretch at all to say he could win Offensive Player of the Year in the MAC.
