Time to get working
The easy times are over kids. Time to get working!
We had a very productive day today at CCT. Today was the first day of choreography, which is always an interesting day. Our choreographer, Wade Tischhouser does some amazing work. He took the people in the opening group number, "The Heat is on in Saigon," and within a short five hours turned them into professional dancers. I was stunned to see how far they had come in just one day's time.
Those of us not in "The Heat is on in Saigon" had a different agenda today. We spent our day learning the proper way to do stage combat. Stage combat is very difficult, let me tell you. I'd say that it's just as difficult as real fighting, if not more. The main focus is to make sure you don't hurt your sparring partner. There are tons of techniques that you must utilize to fight correctly and safely. Pivoting at the correct time, for example, is the one thing keeping you from actually punching your partner in the face. You have to have such precision in your movements, otherwise things can end badly. It is so much fun when done correctly though, and if you watch two professionals go at it, it's an amazing spectacle.
