Schepler gets football scholarship

Sycamore graduate Jason Schepler will be a scholarship football player at Northern Illinois this fall, according to his father, Bill Schepler.

Schepler, the Daily-Chronicle's 2007-08 Male Athlete of the Year, was a walk-on at NIU last fall and saw plenty of action at tight end. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder played in 11 games, including the Independence Bowl, and caught two passes for 15 yards while returning four kicks for 57 yards as one of the Huskies' special teams upmen.
