BRUCKNER-ENGSTROM Susan Bruckner and Kevin Engstrom, both of Denver, are engaged to be married June 19 at Blue Lake Ranch, outside of Durango, Colo.

Bruckner’s parents are Kathleen and Palmer Tibbetts of Franklin, Wis., and Larry Bruckner of Durango, Colo. She is a 1995 graduate of Greendale High School in Greendale, Wis., and a 1999 graduate of Colorado State University. Susan received her master’s degree in community counseling from Adams State College in 2008. She is a counselor and the owner of Elder Wellness LLC in Denver.

Engstrom’s parents are Ellen Engstrom of Elburn and Rodney Engstrom of DeKalb. He is a 1995 graduate of DeKalb High School and a 2000 graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He received his master’s degree in education from Prescott College in 2007. He is a science teacher at PS1 Charter School in Denver.

ROBINSON-BOEHM Dana K. Robinson and Jason S. Boehm, both of Streamwood, were married March 21 at Hillcrest Covenant Church in DeKalb.

The bride is the daughter of Donald Robinson of East Dundee and Sandra Robinson of Sycamore. She went to DeKalb High School and went to Illinois State University in Normal. She currently works for Knowledge Learning Corp. in Hoffman Estates.

The bridegroom is the son of David and Diana Boehm of Danville,Calif. and Edward and Nikki Englerth of Des Plaines.He went to Niles West High School in Skokie and to DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. He currently works as an executive IT manager for Irv’s Luggage in Mount Prospect.

The matron of honor at the ceremony was Dalia Boehm of Glenview. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Katz of DeKalb, Emily Robinson of Tampa, Fla. and Katie Streicher of Sycamore. Olivia Streicher of Sycamore was flower girl. Best man was David Boehm of Evanston. Groomsmen were Jeremy Boehm of Glenview and David Robinson of Tampa, Fla. Ushers were A. Mac Robinson of Oxnard, Calif., Steven Robinson and Matthew Robinson, both of Naperville.

A reception was held at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Naperville. The couple currently lives in Streamwood.

50TH ANNIVERSARY Robert and Marilyn (Saari) Hongisto will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an Open House in their honor on Sunday, May 17th, 2009. Friends are invited to come between 2:00-5:00 pm. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1915 North First Street, DeKalb IL. Bob and Marilyn were married on May 9th, 1959 at First Lutheran Church in Wakefield, MI. They both graduated from Wakefield High School in 1954. They have lived in DeKalb, IL for the last 43 years. They have two children, Nick (Diane) Hongisto and Maria (Rob) McMillion. They also have four grandchildren, Andrew and Peter Hongisto, and Patrick and Christine McMillion.

VANPELT-HINKEMEYER Kevin and Nancy VanPelt of Yorkville announce the engagement of their daughter, Andrea L. VanPelt of DeKalb to Joshua L. Hinkemeyer, the son of Boyd and Janet Hinkemeyer, of Aurora.  

VanPelt is a 2003 graduate of Yorkville High School. She is currently enrolled in graduate achool at Northern Illinois University, where she is working toward a master’s degree in biological sciences with a concentration in biological chemistry, and also toward secondary science teacher certification. She is due to graduate in May 2010. This summer will mark the start of her ninth year as a piano teacher.

Hinkemeyer is a 2004 graduate of Waubonsie Valley High School. He is currently attending Northern Illinois University, where he is working toward a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. He serves as president of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and is due to graduate in May 2010. He continues to work weekends at Napa Auto Parts; this fall will mark the start of his sixth year as an ASE-certified parts specialist.

The couple will be married May 31 at the Elburn Forest Preserve.

50TH ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. Jay B. Ruby Sr. and Betty A. Ruth of DeKalb are celebrating their 50th anniversary this month. The two were married May 29, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham, Minn.

Betty is retired from NIU. Jay is retired from Contel Cellular and from NIU also. They have two children together, Jay B. (Shelly) Ruby Jr. of Sycamore and the late John D. Ruby. They have three grandchildren, Rachel Rood, Andrea Ruby and Dustin Ruby. They also have one great-grandchild, Payton Ruby.

They will celebrate with an open house from 3-5 p.m. May 30 at DeKalb Moose Lodge, 1231 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb. No gifts, please.

SEAVER-NAPIENTEK Randi Seaver of DeKalb and Ray Napientek Jr. of Chicago were married Oct. 25, 2008 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Chicago.

The bride is the daughter of Earl “Gip” Seaver and Pam Jackson of DeKalb. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Seaver of Delton, Mich. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 2001. She received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Northern Illinois University in 2005 and a master’s degree in education from NIU in 2007. She currently works as a research associate in the Office of Enrollment Services at NIU.

The bridegroom is the son of Ray and Dolores Napientek of Huntley. He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Chicago in 1995. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from North Central College in Naperville in 1999 and a master’s degree in sports management from NIU in 2008. He currently works as an assistant baseball coach at Northern Illinois University.

Maid of honor was Kari Seaver, the bride’s sister, of Sycamore. Bridesmaids were Tamara Mileham, sister of the groom, of South Elgin, Amy Pierce of Sycamore and Lindsay Pierce of Sycamore. Flower girls were Amanda and Alyssa Mileham, the groom’s nieces, of South Elgin. Best man was Joe Kelly of Chicago. Groomsmen were Rob Mileham of South Elgin, Troy Seaver, the bride’s brother, of Delton, Mich. and and Joe Napientek, cousin of the groom, of Huntley. Ushers were Quinn Seaver, nephew of the bride, of Delton, Mich., Brett Hollister, cousin of the bride, of DeKalb and Eric Hollister, cousin of the bride, of San Diego. A reception was held at Linsolnshire Marriott Resort in Lincolnshire. The couple purchased Chicago Blackhawks season tickets for their honeymoon. They now live in DeKalb with their 1-year-old daughter, Kara.

HALL-SHORE Erin Hall of DeKalb and John Paul Shore of Downers Grove are engaged to be married Aug. 8 at Sycamore Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John.

Hall is the daughter of Tom Hall of DeKalb and Diane Akins of Hoffman Estates. She graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2007 and is pursuing a master’s degree in counseling from Northern Illinois University.

Shore is the son of Paul and Carol Shore of Sterling. He graduated from WIU with a bachelor’s degree in math education in 2007. He is currently a math teacher and baseball coach at Oswego East High School in Oswego.
