Kritikos out for spring

Senior defensive end Mike Kritikos is out for the spring after suffering an unspecified left leg injury.

Kritikos was injured at Thursday morning's practice after getting tangled up with a group of offensive and defensive linemen in 11-on-11 play. Kritikos' leg was immobilized and he was carted off the field.

Last season, Kritikos played in all 13 games, had 10 tackles, three for a loss and a forced fumble.

Northern Illinois continues spring practice tonight at 6:20 p.m. at Huskie Stadium. I'll have a practice report and a video interview up here late tonight/early Saturday morning. Look for a full wrap of NIU's pro day in Saturday's Daily Chronicle.

Also, Northern Illinois Executive Vice President/Chief of Operations Eddie Williams confirmed that the Northern Illinois Board of Trustees approved a request for expenditure authority of $500,000 for the purchase and installation of the new turf at Huskie Stadium at the Board of Trustees' meeting on Thursday.
