First, thank you to those that commented and e-mailed with suggestions and questions about spring football.
“goniu1523” left some excellent questions/suggestions in the comments and I can tell you that we will be at least attempting to answer all of those questions before spring ball ends. I’m going to give the position battles a week or so to actually start, but I’ll have a full list and my take on them in the next few weeks.
Before we get into what you can expect from the Daily Chronicle, a few pre-spring practice appetizers:
Linebacker and Sycamore native Kevin Sabock will be out for spring practice following offseason knee surgery. Running back Ricky Crider, offensive lineman Joe Pawlak and safety and Kaneland graduate Boone Thorgesen will be limited for the first few practices as all of them are nursing a pulled hamstring.
Also, spring practice will be open to the public again this year.
With that out of the way, here’s what you can expect to see in Daily Chronicle and on Huskie Wire for spring football.
Tuesday’s Daily Chronicle: We’ll have a preview of spring football in Tuesday’s paper with all of the information you need to know before practice begins.
While you are reading the Daily Chronicle at breakfast, I’ll be out at Huskie Stadium. Stretching begins at 7:20 a.m.
Mid-morning Tuesday on Huskie Wire: I’ll have a practice report with all of the information you want to know right away from the first day of practice.
Tuesday afternoon/early evening on Huskie Wire: Our newest regular feature to the blog will be a video report from practice. We’ll have interviews from each practice this spring.
Wednesday’s Daily Chronicle: An in-depth wrap from the first day of spring ball.
The normal routine for spring football will be as follows.
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday practices:
Mid-morning: A full practice report here on Huskie Wire.
Afternoon: A video report with an interview and/or highlights from the day.
The next day: An in-depth story on the Huskies.
Friday night practices:
An hour(ish) post-practice: A full practice report here on Huskie Wire.
Late Friday night/very early Saturday morning: A video report with an interview and/or highlights from the day.
We will also be bringing back the interactive live blog that was so popular on National Signing Day. That will wait until the third or fourth week of spring ball, though, so I’ll be able to give you more details on the team after a couple of weeks of practice.
That’s it. I’m looking forward to the next few weeks and I hope you are too.
